Family: Lauraceae

General Characteristics:
Moderately heavy wood, soft to cut; core from chestnut to a dusky lightly yellowish; medium texture; grain from straight to irregular; surface, shiny and smooth to the touch; smell unnoticeable.

Main Uses:

Laurel wood, because it presents medium mechanical properties, pleasant color and good workability, is indicated for the manufacturing of high quality furniture and decorative veneers. In buildings it can be used in baseboard, lattice work, boards, Venetian blinds, floor boards, etc.
